This year's theme honors two great voyages that shaped modern Hawaiʻi — the Polynesian wayfinders who navigated by the stars, and the missionary families who crossed 13,000 miles around Cape Horn to first sight Mauna Kea in 1820. Since being designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965, Hawaiian Mission Houses has stewarded the archives, structures, and stories born of that cultural convergence — preserving the layered traditions, teachings, and influences that continue to shape Hawaiʻi today.
