We are thrilled to announce that the legendary Alan Akaka & the Islanders will provide the musical soundtrack for our upcoming fundraising gala. For nearly four decades, Alan Akaka & the Islanders have been synonymous with authentic Hawaiian music that captures the spirit of the islands' golden era. Formed in 1985, this renowned trio features:
Known for their signature "danceable island rhythms," Alan Akaka & the Islanders transport listeners straight back to the enchanting 1940s and 1950s—Hawaiʻi's musical golden age. Their distinctive sound features parallel harmonies, lilting falsetto, and classic steel guitar that captures the very essence of traditional Hawaiian music.
The selection of Alan Akaka & the Islanders perfectly embodies the spirit of Huakaʻi—bringing together the musical traditions that have helped weave the cultural tapestry of modern Hawaiʻi. Their music will complement our evening's celebration of lōkahi (unity and harmony) as we honor the collaborative heritage between missionaries and the lāhui (nation of Hawaiʻi).
As guests enjoy an elegant reception and dinner at the iconic Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the timeless melodies of Alan Akaka & the Islanders will create an unforgettable atmosphere, perfectly complementing our award-winning history theatre performances and the celebration of our shared Hawaiian heritage.
