The Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site & Archives invites the community to experience "Huakaʻi i Ka Lōkahi i Ke Ola" (Journey to Harmony in Life), an enchanting evening celebrating Hawaiian culture and history on Saturday, September 13, 2025, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
This unique evening transports guests through decades of Hawaiian history, where the lives of Native Hawaiians, missionaries, and other diverse newcomers are intertwined to create the foundation of modern Hawaiʻi. The Huakaʻi program celebrates Lōkahi (unity and harmony) through aloha ʻāina (love for our land), aloha poʻe (love for our people), and aloha kūpuna (love for our ancestors), all unified under the overarching theme of Aloha Ke Akua.
An Unforgettable Evening of Entertainment and Culture Includes:
● Elegant reception and dinner at the iconic Royal Hawaiian Hotel beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception
● Live Hawaiian music by the legendary Alan Akaka & the Islanders, evoking old Hawaiʻi with their signature "danceable island rhythms" reminiscent of the 1940s and 1950s golden era
● Hawaiian Mission Housesʻ award-winning history theatre performances woven throughout the evening, featuring historical portrayals of Emma Nakuina and William Richards, with voices from Kaʻahumanu, Kaumualiʻi, Haʻalilio, and Kamehameha III (Kauikeaouli). Guests will be transported through time.
● Silent auction featuring made-in-Hawaiʻi crafted items and unique island experiences
● Live auction with once-in-a-lifetime experiences for the whole family
